Motocross

 

Motocross is the most popular form of motorcycle racing in Australia, accounting for over 50% of all licensed riders nationwide. It involves navigating a marked race track over rough terrain with obstacles like jumps and “whoops”.

Races feature up to 40 riders competing head-to-head in 10-15 minute “motos”.

 

Whether you’re a race competitor, a recreational rider, or just a spectator, there’s a place for everyone in the Motocross community.

By joining the Motocross community, you can create lifelong friendships and enjoy the thrill of the ride.

Supercross (SX) and Freestyle Motocross (FMX) are variations of Motocross, but riders need a specific endorsement for either.

There are several clubs that provide motocross events in the Territory, in the Darwin area contact Acacia Hills Motocross Club (AHMA), Territory Quad Association (TQA) and Top End Moto Cross Club (TEMCC).

What you need to get started

New Motocross bikes range from $6,000-$9,000 for a Junior competition bike, with Senior race bikes ranging from $9,500 to upwards of $15,000. They can be identified by their tall stance, knobby tyres and racing numberplates located front and side.
